On September 20-21 of this year, the forty-first (twenty-ninth ordinary) meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (AC EAPO) was held at the EAPO headquarters in Moscow, Russian Federation. The Republic of Tajikistan is the chair country of the AC EAPO and this meeting was chaired by Mirzo Ismoilzoda – Director of the State Institution “National Center for Patents and Information ” of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The meeting was attended by authorized representatives of the Member States of the Organization from the Russian Federation, the Republics of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, as well as the President of the Eurasian Patent Office and a representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
According to the agenda of the meeting, the report of the President of the Eurasian Patent Office on the directions and future plans of the office’s activities was heard. After, according to the procedure, the draft budget of the Office for 2023 was considered and approved. They also discussed the creation of a regional system for the registration of trademarks and service marks, utility models and the creation of a single intellectual property court based on the Eurasian Patent Office.
In conclusion, the authorized representatives of the Member States of the Organization highly estimated the contribution of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in this Organization and in this regard, the President of the Eurasian Patent Office Ivliev Grigory Petrovich presented the Director of the State Institution “National Center for Patents and Information” of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Mirzo Ismoilzoda with the highest award of the EAPO – Gold medal named after V. Blinnikov “For contribution to the field of invention and patenting”.
Also, on September 21, 2022, the International Conference “IP of Eurasia: Space for Innovations” was held, in which authorized representatives of the member countries of the Organization took an active part. Participating in this conference, Mirzo Ismoilzoda explained the position of the Republic of Tajikistan on topical issues and noted that the healthcare sector is one of the priority areas. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan respected Emomali Rahmon pay special attention to issues in this field.
In 2020, the State Program for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025 was adopted, in which special attention is paid to the introduction of innovations in this field.
