On December 14, 2023, the State Institution “National Center for Patents and Information” of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, held a round table on the topic “Development of geographical indications in the Republic of Tajikistan”.

The event began with an opening speech by the director of the institution, Ismoilzoda Mirzo, then reports on the development of geographical indications and the use of best international practices in this area were discussed.

In this round table, in face-to-face and remote format, presentations were made by representatives of the country’s ministries and departments, experts from the Patent Office, FAO representatives and international experts from Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation and the UK.

The purpose of this event is to implement the relevant provisions of the National Strategy for the Development of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period until 2030, including public information, protection of geographical indications (names of places of origin of goods), popularization of regional brands.
