The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has launched the 2024 Global Awards, inviting small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups that use intellectual property (IP) to make a positive impact on society.
Businesses from all business sectors located anywhere in the world that meet the competition criteria have until March 31, 2024 to apply. Winners receive mentoring to help them implement their IP strategies, including attracting investment, creating partnership opportunities, advertising support and etc.
“At the heart of the Global Awards Program is WIPO’s mission to serve the interests of innovators and creators around the world, ensuring that their ideas are freely brought to market and improve the quality of life of people, wherever they are. Although the Global Awards Program is only two years old, we are pleased to see the impact it has on companies’ IP strategies, including through the mentorship it offers to winners,” said WIPO Director General Daren Tang.
This year, for the first time, the jury will consider a company’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the award’s core value of making a positive impact on society through IP-based creativity and innovation.
An independent expert jury will select seven winners. The award ceremony will take place at the WIPO General Assembly in July 2024 at the organization’s headquarters (Geneva, Switzerland).
