From 7 to 15 July, the 68th session of the General Assembly of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was held in Geneva, Swiss Confederation.
The Assembly brought together heads and representatives of the patent offices of WIPO member states. The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was led by Mirzo Ismoilzoda, Director of the State Institution “National Center for Patents and Information” of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the session, Mr. Ismoilzoda delivered a statement on the current state of intellectual property in the Republic of Tajikistan. He noted that, as a result of implementing the instructions of the country’s top leadership and key sectoral policy documents, significant achievements have been made. In particular, a comprehensive and effective intellectual property system has been established and is functioning successfully.
It was also emphasized that, under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and in line with the National Intellectual Property Development Strategy, the country’s intellectual property sector has reached a new level of development.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, the Tajik delegation held bilateral meetings with officials and representatives of Saudi Arabia, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, Georgia, Uzbekistan, as well as WIPO representatives, to discuss expanding cooperation and promoting the further development of the intellectual property sector.
In addition, a meeting of the Central Asia, Caucasus and Eastern Europe Countries (CACEEC) Working Group on Intellectual Property was held, during which the Tajik delegation presented proposals on current regional issues related to intellectual property.
